e-dash Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Toma Yamazaki; hereinafter, "the Company") announces that it has been awarded the "Kanagawa CO2 Visualization Trial (SME CO2 Emission Management System Introduction Support Project)" by Kanagawa Prefecture (Governor: Yuji Kuroiwa) for the third consecutive year. The Company will begin providing support for visualizing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions for 70 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kanagawa Prefecture using "e-dash". This fiscal year, the Company will strengthen proposals for "switching to renewable energy" to reduce emissions, thereby promoting decarbonization actions among SMEs in the prefecture.

## Background of the Initiative

Kanagawa Prefecture has set a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the prefecture by 50% by FY2030 compared to FY2013, aiming to achieve a decarbonized society by 2050. To promote decarbonization management among SMEs, which hold the key to achieving this goal, the prefecture has been conducting the "Kanagawa CO2 Visualization Trial (SME CO2 Emission Management System Introduction Support Project)" since FY2024.

According to the latest estimates (FY2023 preliminary values *), greenhouse gas emissions in the prefecture decreased by 31.5% compared to FY2013, and by a significant 9.9% from the previous year. However, the main reason for this was the shutdown of facilities by large emitters in the industrial sector, and continuous reduction activities unaffected by such temporary factors are essential for reliably achieving the goals.

In particular, decarbonization by businesses, which account for approximately 42% (industrial sector 26.1%, commercial sector 15.9%) of the prefecture's CO2 emissions, remains the most critical issue. In response to this situation, the prefecture decided to strengthen proposals for "switching to renewable energy" as a trump card for emission reduction in this project, building on existing calculation support.

Our company has been commissioned by the prefecture for this project and will strongly support effective decarbonization actions from a practical perspective by proposing greenhouse gas emission calculations and reduction measures to 70 SMEs in the prefecture.

## Overview of Support

Our company will provide the following support to SMEs in Kanagawa Prefecture.

1. Support for greenhouse gas emission calculation/visualization and compliance with prefectural ordinances

We support the calculation and visualization of greenhouse gas emissions using "e-dash".

The first step to promoting decarbonization is to accurately grasp the current situation. "e-dash" allows anyone to easily and accurately visualize monthly energy usage and emissions by simply uploading electricity and gas bills. Furthermore, this project also supports the reporting practices of the "Business Activity Global Warming Countermeasure Plan System" based on Kanagawa Prefectural Ordinances, strongly supporting the reduction of man-hours required for acquiring certification under the "Kanagawa Decarbonization Challenge SME Certification System".

2. Proposing "Concrete Actions" for reducing greenhouse gas emissions

We propose reduction measures tailored to each company's situation, such as switching to renewable energy.

We don't just stop at looking at numbers; we provide concrete next steps. Based on the calculated data, we consider and propose optimal reduction scenarios tailored to each business's environment and investment plan, such as switching to renewable energy, introducing energy-saving equipment, and improving on-site operations.

Participating companies can receive all these supports for free until the end of February 2027.

Through this project, our company will effectively support the decarbonization management of SMEs in Kanagawa Prefecture, and contribute to the sustainable development of the regional economy towards achieving the prefecture's FY2030 goals and ultimately a decarbonized society by 2050.

Kanagawa Prefecture is promoting initiatives by various entities such as companies and households to work towards the realization of a decarbonized society by 2050 under the slogan "All Japan, All Kanagawa". As part of this, we are implementing the "Kanagawa CO2 Visualization Trial" to support SMEs in understanding and reducing their CO2 emissions.
In this project, by using a CO2 emission management system, electricity bills.
