Dynamic Map Platform Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shuichi Yoshimura; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") was invited as a special guest to the "38th IATA Ground Handling Conference (IGHC)" held in Cairo, Egypt, from May 19 (Tue) to 21 (Thu), 2026, and gave a presentation. The conference was organized by IATA (International Air Transport Association). Scene from the presentation at the "38th IATA Ground Handling Conference (IGHC)" The IGHC is a major international conference in the field of airport ground handling, where key players in the aviation industry, including airlines, airport operators, ground handling operators, and system providers, gather to discuss operational advancements, the introduction of new technologies, and the establishment of industry standards. The Company is cooperating with IATA's initiative for the international standardization of maps required for the automation of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) vehicles. Our activities in this initiative have been highly evaluated, leading to this invitation and presentation at the conference. On the day, we participated in a panel discussion alongside a major domestic airline, a leading European applied research institution, and a US tech company working on airport automation. Our presentation introduced use cases focused on "Taxiway Crossing" and "Accident Prevention in Blind Spots" using autonomous vehicles. To operate autonomous vehicles safely and efficiently around aircraft, on taxiways, and at intersections, it is crucial to provide real-time information, linked to location data, that autonomous vehicles require, such as the position and movement of surrounding vehicles and aircraft, as well as traffic rules and constraints. We demonstrated that sensors mounted on vehicles alone are insufficient for this purpose, and collaboration between vehicle sensors and dynamic maps*1 is indispensable. As a specific example in this panel, we explained using "VIPS (Various Information Port System/Vips)," a data integration platform that our company is developing. VIPS integrates and shares dynamic map information*2 acquired from cameras and various systems. In December 2025, operations of GSE vehicles equivalent to Level 4 autonomous driving*3 were realized within the airport restricted area in Japan. Currently, areas where Level 4 autonomous driving is possible are limited to the vicinity of terminals. In the future, it will be necessary to handle more complex environments such as crossing service lanes (vehicle traffic routes that cross aircraft flight paths), gradually expand the operational areas, and further deploy to multiple airports and increase the number of operating vehicles. This panel also addressed the importance of information integration platforms in this next phase. Furthermore, the panel discussed the current status and future vision of autonomous driving adoption from each company's perspective, with all companies indicating that an ecosystem similar to dynamic maps (VIPS) is indispensable. Following the panel discussion, several airlines and airport companies expressed that their understanding of the necessity of dynamic maps has deepened. Going forward, Dynamic Map Platform Co., Ltd. will continue to promote initiatives for data integration and standardization based on spatial information in various fields, including aviation, contributing to the advancement of safe and efficient social infrastructure. ■ Date: May 19 (Tue) - 21 (Thu), 2026 ■ Venue: InterContinental Citystars Cairo by IHG (Cairo, Egypt) ■ Organizer: IATA (International Air Transport Association) Official Website: https://www.iata.org/en/events/all/iata-ground-handling-conference/ 【Reference】 The international standardization of maps required for the automation of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) vehicles is being carried out as part of the "Development of Dynamic Maps for Public Areas" project by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, which is one of the initiatives under the Cabinet Office's "Program to Bridge Research and Development Outcomes with Society 5.0" (BRIDGE). Furthermore, the development of VIPS is progressing through the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's "Small and Medium Enterprise Innovation Creation Promotion Project" (SBIR). A demonstration experiment was conducted at Chubu Centrair International Airport in January 2026. A dynamic map refers to the concept of a map database that holds information classified into four layers based on the real-time nature of the information. The Company provides high-precision 3D map data that forms the basis of "static information," such as lane and road surface information, and is working to build a data integration system for autonomous driving that collects and distributes "dynamic map information," which constitutes dynamic maps from static to dynamic. By distributing road conditions to autonomous vehicles in advance through this system, it contributes to preventing traffic accidents and realizing safe and secure autonomous driving. Established with investment from 10 major Japanese automakers and backed by the Japanese government, Dynamic Map Platform Co., Ltd. is headquartered in Japan with bases in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and South Korea, operating in 26 countries. The company provides high-precision 3D data for a wide range of applications, including autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), simulator environment construction, infrastructure management, and snow removal support. With a vision of "Modeling the Earth" – the digitalization of the Earth – the Company co-creates innovation in various industrial fields as a high-precision 3D data platformer.
