Osaka Yomenaikuki (Can't Read Cookies)

DOSHISHA Co., Ltd. (Osaka Head Office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President and Representative Director: Masayuki Nomura, hereinafter DOSHISHA), which plans, develops, and sells daily necessities, will launch "Osaka Yomenaikuki," a new type of souvenir that allows you to enjoy Osaka's difficult-to-read place names in a quiz format, sequentially starting from July 1, 2026 (Wed.) at souvenir shops and station kiosks in Osaka Prefecture.

"Osaka Yomenaikuki" are Osaka-exclusive, playful souvenirs featuring difficult-to-read place names that actually exist in Osaka Prefecture, such as "Hanaten" (放出), "Mitejima" (御幣島), and "Kireuriwari" (喜連瓜破), printed on cookies. These are names that even locals might hesitate to read. Amidst the growing attention on experiential and conversational souvenirs due to the recovery of inbound and domestic tourism demand, these cookies were born from the desire to "create a souvenir that sparks conversation while incorporating Osaka's unique culture of humor."

When people pick up the cookies, conversations naturally arise like, "How do you read this?" or "I'm from Osaka and I can't read it!" The answer key includes explanations with Osaka-style tsukkomi (comedic retorts), making them enjoyable while laughing. Not only residents of Osaka but also those visiting Osaka for tourism or business trips can "deliciously and enjoyably" experience Osaka's charm.
