Digital Grid Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yusuke Toyoda; hereinafter "the Company") has introduced a custom-made system for the electricity of four factories of Narikoma Food Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ibaraki City, Osaka; Representative Director: Katsunari Takeuchi; hereinafter "Narikoma"), a major manufacturer of hospital and nursing home meals, to procure up to approximately 90% of electricity at a fixed price, thereby suppressing price fluctuation risks.

By procuring some electricity through the Digital Grid Platform (DGP)* just before the Middle East situation worsened, we succeeded in reducing price fluctuation risks.

The Company will continue to provide diverse services to support customers in selecting electricity procurement that matches their costs and decarbonization policies.

About Narikoma
Narikoma is a leading company in the industry, manufacturing approximately 530,000 meals per day for nursing and medical facilities at central kitchens nationwide. The total electricity consumption of the four factories for which the Company supported electricity procurement is approximately 20 GWh, and there was a need to address the risk of electricity price fluctuations.

This time, we implemented a flexible design, which is our strength, such as changing the amount of electricity procured at a fixed price according to the electricity usage status of each factory.

About the Middle East situation and electricity prices
The price of the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX) tends to be significantly affected by the highly volatile "spot LNG price," and the price of the wholesale electricity market also fluctuates due to sudden changes in LNG and crude oil prices caused by the Middle East situation.

This time, by procuring some electricity at a fixed price just before the price fluctuations due to the Middle East situation expanded, we were able to suppress the impact of the subsequent sharp price increases.
