Digital Data Solution Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Seiji Kumagai; hereinafter, Digital Data Solution) announced that it held the security forum "Vietnam Data Security Summit 2026" on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Hanoi National Convention Center.

This forum was jointly organized by FSI TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND TRADING INVESTMENT JSC (Headquarters: Hanoi, Vietnam; President & CEO: Nguyen Khoa Bao; hereinafter, FSI), an IT company in Vietnam, and FSI Digital Data Solutions JSC (Headquarters: Hanoi, Vietnam; President & CEO: Do Thu Thuy; hereinafter, FSI DDS), against the backdrop of increasing cyber attacks and strengthening security-related legislation in Vietnam.

On the day of the event, experts at the forefront of cybersecurity and legal fields, as well as representatives from over 150 foreign direct investment (FDI) companies operating in Vietnam, participated. Japanese and Vietnamese stakeholders engaged in active discussions on trends in legal regulations and the latest solutions for data protection and preventing information leakage.

**Reality of Cyber Risks in Vietnam**

According to an announcement by the Vietnam National Cyber Security Association (NCA), the estimated annual number of cyber attacks has remained high, with 659,000 incidents in 2024 and 552,000 in 2025, indicating that cyber risks surrounding companies remain severe (*1*). Furthermore, the "Personal Data Protection Law" was passed by the Vietnamese National Assembly on June 26, 2025, and came into effect on January 1, 2026. Its elevation from a decree to a law has significantly strengthened its legal enforceability and the scope of penalties. Under this law, companies may face fines of up to 3 billion Vietnamese Dong or 5% of their annual revenue for violations or data breaches, making regulations even stricter. Against this backdrop of increasing cyber attacks and strengthening legal regulations, the importance of security measures for companies has further increased.

**Digital Data Solution's Kumagai Proposes Importance of Multi-Layered Defense**

Digital Data Solution operates three businesses: "Cybersecurity Business," "Forensics Business," and "Data Recovery Business," based on its philosophy: "Help those in need, prevent new people from facing problems, and resolve data troubles worldwide." Against the backdrop of rising cyber risks and strengthening legal regulations in Vietnam, Seiji Kumagai, President & CEO of Digital Data Solution, who has a cumulative track record of over 580,000 data incident responses in Japan, took the stage as a security expert at the forum. In his lecture, he explained the reality of cyber attack damage in Japan and the basic security measures companies should take.

Kumagai explained the fundamental challenges of modern cybersecurity by likening the internet environment to the human immune system. In the human immune system, natural immunity and vaccines effectively work against known viruses, but they cannot prevent the emergence of new variants themselves. This structure also applies to cyberspace, where the emergence of unknown threats is inherently unavoidable. In fact, approximately 1.2 million new malware instances are generated and spread daily, and attacks are rapidly diversifying and becoming more sophisticated. Under such circumstances, it is difficult to adequately respond to all threats with only conventional defenses such as firewalls, UTMs, and antivirus software.

He also explained complex cyber attack methods, such as attacks exploiting vulnerabilities and supply chain attacks, and showed the reality of ransomware damage occurring in major Vietnamese companies. Based on this situation, he proposed that implementing "multi-layered defense," which combines multiple measures, is effective in preventing information leakage to the outside.

Digital Data Solution will continue to promote its global expansion, primarily in its cybersecurity business, aiming to become the No. 1 data solution company in the world. Leveraging the knowledge gained from over 580,000 cumulative data incident responses for cyber attacks, unauthorized access, and data recovery, the company will contribute to the realization of a safe and reliable digital society through the advancement and widespread adoption of security measures.
