DigiKey Launches First-Ever Electronics Contest in Japan

The 'DigiKey Make ONE Challenge 2026 ~Challenge your best creation~', the first electronics contest hosted by DigiKey in Japan, is now accepting applications. DigiKey, a global leader in high-service electronic components and automation products, launched this contest to foster the culture of electronics design and support future engineers. Applications are open until June 22, 2026. The contest emphasizes the process of making as much as the final result. Under the keyword 'ONE', it encourages participants to pursue their first-time challenges or their best works. A 'Student Award' has been established to encourage participation from schools and universities, providing practical learning opportunities. Furthermore, until April 27, 2026, a support campaign is available to help cover component costs. David Sandys, Senior Director of Technical Enablement and Engagement at DigiKey, stated that the contest reinforces DigiKey's role as a partner throughout the entire development cycle—from ideation and design to social implementation. NXP Semiconductors joins as a sponsor, showcasing evaluation boards for Edge AI, Embedded Linux, and Real-time control. Projects using NXP products will receive additional points in the first screening. The top 10 finalists will advance to the final judging session featuring popular electronics YouTuber Ichiken as a special judge. Winning projects will be displayed at Maker Faire Tokyo 2026 on September 5-6, 2026, and interviews with winners will be featured on DigiKey Japan's official YouTube channel.
