Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1963. Graduated from Keio University.

Debuted as a writer in 1998 with "Hatsuru Sokonaki," winning the Edogawa Ranpo Award. In 2010, he won the Yoshikawa Eiji Prize for New Writers for "Tetsu no Hone," the Naoki Prize in 2011 for "Shitamachi Rocket," and the Shibata Renzaburo Award in 2023 for "Hayabusa Shobodan."
