Tokyo Denki University (President: Tadahiko Ibamoto) will once again host the TDU Social and Community Collaboration Project Public Lecture "D-SciTech Program ~ For Future Engineers ~" (hereinafter "D-SciTech Program"), an experiential workshop popular among elementary school students interested in science, in the 2026 academic year.
The first half of the 2026 academic year's "D-SciTech Program" will offer seven courses from June to September (with more courses planned from October onwards). Entering its fourth year, the venues have also expanded, with five courses held at the university's Tokyo Senju Campus (Adachi-ku, Tokyo), and one course each at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus (Hatoyama-machi, Hiki-gun, Saitama Prefecture) and Tokyo Denki University Junior and Senior High School (Koganei City, Tokyo).
Engineers from collaborating companies will serve as instructors, with five companies including Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Kato Works Co., Ltd. participating in collaborative courses where students can learn advanced and specialized technologies. The program includes learning about "hydraulics," "pneumatics," and "electricity," which are familiar energies in daily life, as well as the mechanism of "electric vehicles" that emit no exhaust gas, and the principle of "chromatography" for separating mixtures. Additionally, there are programs to experience the joy of manufacturing through "Mini 4WD" production and to challenge creating a safety map of Adachi Ward using "GIS" (Geographic Information System) software.
■ "D-SciTech Program" for elementary school students, entering its 4th year of hosting
The TDU Social and Community Collaboration Project Public Lecture "D-SciTech Program ~ For Future Engineers ~" has been continuously held since 2023, driven by the desire for elementary school children to "like science more" and "to embrace the dream of becoming a 'future engineer'." Each course fills up quickly upon recruitment, making it a popular workshop among many children, now entering its fourth year.
University faculty and engineers from collaborating companies serve as instructors, and children engage in experiments and crafts where they learn principles and mechanisms while actively working with their hands. The aim is to provide a place where children not only gain knowledge but also acquire practical "experience."
