Dell Technologies announced that Mazda Motor Corporation has implemented scalable 'Dell PowerScale' storage to build an integrated storage infrastructure for model-based development, CAD, and archiving purposes. With the new foundation, Mazda achieved unified management of large data volumes and reduced the storage cost per unit capacity to about one-tenth of the previous cost. This integrated storage is also expected to serve as a data lake supporting next-generation AI and generative AI utilization. At Mazda, design and development data was rapidly increasing at a pace of several hundred terabytes per year, and management with the conventional 'storage + tape device' system was becoming problematic due to its complexity and time-consuming data retrieval.
