Six Years of Walking This Path. —Decentraland Japan Community Lead Envisions the Future of 'Digital Connections'

I want to make the decentralized digital space, Decentraland, your new 'place to return to.'

In an era where everything is streamlined by AI and algorithms, competing on speed and cost performance, I am once again feeling the value of 'persevering' and 'keeping the flame alive.'

Decentraland is a digital space celebrating its 6th year since official release. At the time, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the metaverse and NFT trends, it was widely covered in the news. Since those days when many people gathered out of 'novelty' and then left, I have continuously spent time here and used it.

Before I knew it, I had transitioned from being a single user to an ambassador, and then to the position of Japan Community Lead. Because I have continued for so long, I believe in the value of this place more than anyone.

■ What is Decentraland?
It is a blockchain-based digital space, often referred to as a metaverse, that is not managed by a specific company but is built and operated by volunteers worldwide. It is a social service space purely for enjoying 'being there with someone.'

Decentraland is steadily evolving even at this very moment. There was a time when the term 'metaverse' alone was ahead of its time, but behind the scenes, we have been steadily refining 'usability' and 'connections' step by step.

Platform Evolution:
Last year, it was revamped as desktop app 2.0 and launched on the Epic Games Store.

Mobile App:
User testing on TestFlight has been completed, and a mobile app version is scheduled to appear soon. The day when you can easily access it is just around the corner.

No Wallet Required:
Supports social login. You can enter immediately with just one social media account like Google, without specialized knowledge or a cryptocurrency wallet.

Your Own Space:
ENS (name) holders can have their own 'World (personal space)' for free. You can decorate it with your favorite 3D items and freely build your own gallery or place.

■ Our Dream for the Future
Our dream is to make Decentraland an 'online place where anyone can quietly connect with anyone in the world, at their own pace.'
To create a future where it's normal to discover that you have one more 'place to return to' somewhere in the world.

Currently, there are not many Japanese users, but I believe this place will become a 'bridge to connect with the world.'
That people will gradually arrive in this gentle world, and that it will become one of the normal choices. That is our sincere dream.

■ We are looking for companions to shape this dream together
Currently, the DCL Regenesis Labs Grants, a global support program for the evolution of Decentraland 2.0, is underway. Depending on the project content, it is possible to undertake challenges utilizing grants of up to $15,000 worth of MANA (cryptocurrency circulating on the blockchain).
