Standard Products by DAISO, operated by Daiso Sangyo Corp. (Higashi-Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Seiji Yano), celebrated its 5th anniversary on March 26, 2026. Since its inception, Standard Products has proposed high-quality daily necessities with a focus on sustainability and environmental issues, with thinned wood products being a representative series. As part of the 5th-anniversary project, the company will hold a 'Forest and Craftsmanship Experience Tour' on Sunday, May 17, in Hinohara Village, Tokyo, where participants can experience forest maintenance and artisan techniques to learn the origins of thinned wood product manufacturing. Recruitment for participants begins on Tuesday, March 31. This is the first time Daiso Sangyo has planned a tour to experience the manufacturing site, and the first tour project with fans from the official fan community 'DAISO no Wa.' Registration in the 'DAISO no Wa' community is required to apply.
Participants will visit forests in need of care and receive an explanation on the importance of forest maintenance from the Hinohara Village Timber Industry Cooperative.
Experiencing the Behind-the-Scenes of Manufacturing with Fans
The 'Forest and Craftsmanship Experience Tour' is the first fan tour organized by Daiso Sangyo as a 5th-anniversary project, aimed at helping participants feel the importance of forest conservation and conveying the dedication behind Standard Products' product development. Participants will visit Hinohara Village, the birthplace of popular thinned wood items like 'Hinoki Essential Oil' and 'Fragrance Bottles,' participate in creating paths to forests in need of care, and visit the product factory to experience the behind-the-scenes of manufacturing and artisan skills with all five senses. By spending a special day in the nature of Hinohara Village, we hope to strengthen our bond with our fans.
Highlights of the 'Forest and Craftsmanship Experience Tour' • Learn about forest cycles! 'Path-making (trail maintenance) experience' Learn about forest resource circulation through a lecture by the Hinohara Village Timber Industry Cooperative. Afterward, experience trail maintenance to make it easier to care for planted seedlings.
• Lunch time with all participants! Taste the blessings of Hinohara Village We will provide a lunch using local ingredients, packed in a Standard Products lunch box. As an eco-friendly initiative to leave no trash in the forest, the 'lunch box' and the 'handkerchief' used to wrap it will be given to participants as gifts.
• Learn from artisans! 'Manufacturing process lecture & thinned wood coaster production' Visit the factory that manufactures 'Fragrance Bottles' to learn the behind-the-scenes of product creation. Furthermore, using scrap wood, participants will create original thinned wood coasters stamped with the 'DAISO no Wa' brand.
