This product offers a new option for spaces in commercial and public facilities where non-combustible interior substrates are required, along with the need to mount fixtures such as handrails, shelves, and TV monitors on walls.

[Background and Launch Intent]

In recent years, in non-residential construction such as commercial and public facilities, there has been an increasing demand for wall substrates with non-combustible properties due to interior regulations and fire safety requirements. At the same time, there is a growing need to mount fixtures like handrails, shelves, and TV monitors on walls. As a result, designers and contractors are seeking substrate materials that offer not only fire resistance but also reliable screw-holding strength, ease of construction, and stable supply.

To meet these needs, DAIKEN has launched the 'Non-Combustible Dailight Composite Board BK (Kabegamo-kun)', combining its proprietary 'Dailight' material with domestic plywood. The product has received certification as a non-combustible material under Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) NM-5828(2). It can be used as a substrate in fire-resistant wall applications, such as the first layer in a double-gypsum board system. Under DAIKEN's test conditions, it demonstrated superior load-bearing performance compared to a double-gypsum board system. Additionally, the product leverages the excellent workability of 'Dailight' and is designed for ease of use on construction sites. Furthermore, it is offered as an in-stock product to ensure stable supply.

To date, DAIKEN has marketed 'Dailight' as a structural sheathing material for residential use and has expanded into non-combustible wall panels and louver materials. Moving forward, the company will continue to develop products that respond to market needs, expanding the applications of 'Dailight' and strengthening its proposal capabilities in the public and commercial construction sectors.

◇ Key Features of the 'Non-Combustible Dailight Composite Board BK (Kabegamo-kun)'

1. Fire Resistance and Workability through 'Dailight'

The base material uses DAIKEN's proprietary inorganic material 'Dailight', made from raw materials such as rock wool (mineral fiber) and pumice (volcanic glass material). It is individually certified as a non-combustible material and can be easily cut on-site using hand tools such as a handsaw, ensuring excellent workability.

2. Reliable Screw-Holding Strength

Load-bearing tests were conducted comparing a double-gypsum board system with the new product paired with a single gypsum board. The double-gypsum board system showed a failure load of 32 kg, while the new product with a single gypsum board achieved a failure load of 113 kg—approximately 3.5 times higher load-bearing capacity (*2). This makes it suitable as a substrate for mounting wall fixtures such as handrails (*3), storage shelves, and TV monitors.

<Measurement Conditions>: Three tapping screws (Φ4 × L40mm) were used to fix a hook to the wall surface, and the failure load was measured.

3. Utilization of Domestic Materials

The plywood layer uses domestically sourced Japanese plywood, contributing to the use of local materials.
