Spakona Inc. We will deploy the advanced AI technologies cultivated in the civilian sector to the defense field, contributing to the advancement of technological initiatives that support Japan's national security.

◾️Background of Entry into the Defense Tech Sector

Advanced technologies, including AI, mathematical optimization, and simulation technologies, are increasing in importance not only in industrial and research fields but also in the security sector. In the defense sector, as operational environments become more complex and decision-making becomes more sophisticated, the flexible and rapid application of technology centered on software and AI is becoming indispensable, in addition to traditional equipment development.

In recent years, in particular, the trend of “Dual Use,” applying AI and mathematical optimization technologies developed in the civilian sector to the defense sector, has accelerated. Algorithms and control technologies cultivated for industrial use are increasingly contributing to decision-making support, operational efficiency, and risk reduction in the defense sector.

Spakona has, until now, been engaged in developing technologies that optimize decision-making and control under complex constraints using AI in both the civilian and research sectors (*1). We believe that this accumulated technological expertise will function effectively in the defense sector as well.

The technical effectiveness of these technologies was demonstrated by receiving a certain level of evaluation in a technical verification setting at the 4th Air Combat AI Challenge (Open Division) hosted by the Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) in 2025 (*2). Based on these achievements, Spakona has decided to make a full-scale entry into the defense tech sector, leveraging its strength in an approach driven by “algorithms, AI, and mathematical models,” and aiming to provide new technological options in the defense field.

Currently, Spakona is engaged in the demonstration and research and development of AI technology in the defense sector through collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and the Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency. Moving forward, based on these initiatives, we plan to further expand the scope of AI utilization and partnerships in the defense sector.
