As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, no other city is more central to its story than Philadelphia. As the first capital of the United States, it is the place where the Declaration of Independence was debated and adopted, and where the Constitution was born. Today, Philadelphia continues to embrace its rich history while brimming with innovative energy, welcoming people from all over the world. Philadelphia's role in 1776 solidified its status as the birthplace of the United States. In 2026, that legacy will be brought to life through cultural, artistic, and historical programs on an unprecedented scale, transforming the entire city into a "living stage" where America's story can be experienced.

At the heart of these celebrations is Philadelphia's largest Independence Day festival, "Wawa Welcome America." In 2026, its content will be further expanded, taking place over 16 days from Juneteenth (June 19) to July 4 across various locations in the city. Furthermore, Philadelphia's artistic heritage will be prominently featured through "A Nation of Artists," a groundbreaking joint initiative by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA). Exhibiting over 1,000 works, including many rarely seen, it will demonstrate how artists have played a crucial role in shaping America's cultural identity and offer new perspectives on America's story during this historic year.

As one of only 16 host cities across North America, Philadelphia will welcome teams, fans, and media from around the world to host six FIFA World Cup 26™ matches. This includes a Round of 16 match held on July 4, U.S. Independence Day. The venue will be Lincoln Financial Field, but it will be known as 'Philadelphia Stadium' during the tournament.

The "FIFA Fan Festival™" in Philadelphia will be a unique experience, blending sports, culture, and community. Open to the public free of charge during the tournament, it will offer live match broadcasts, food and beverage experiences, world-class entertainment, and interactive content.
