The lead interview in this issue features Mr. Yoshiyuki Minegishi, who has walked the path of a certified public accountant and tax accountant for nearly 50 years.
Mr. Minegishi aspired to be a certified public accountant in his second year of high school and naturally considered taking over his father's tax accountant office, leading him to enroll in the Faculty of Commerce at Chuo University. At the university, he joined 'Shiunkai' and resolved to pass the second-stage exam while still enrolled, which he successfully accomplished.
In 1975, he joined Chuo Audit Corporation, where he gained various experiences. He became a site manager and was involved in diverse tasks at a young age, learning accounting principles and audit practices firsthand. Five years later, he took over his father's office, but experienced a difficult start. Overcoming family deaths and the struggles of establishing the office, he handled various clients as a local accounting firm, focusing on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the community. He consistently emphasized human connections, cherishing introductions and relationships, and continued to study and work diligently.
In his late 40s, he became the chairman of the Nerima Branch of the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, actively serving in various roles in regional associations and the institute, dedicating himself to promoting association affairs and SME support. He organized events such as the 'SME Support Convention' to highlight the social role of accountants and their contribution to the regional economy. In 2023, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette for his contributions as a certified public accountant.
“Cherish human relationships” — Mr. Minegishi took this advice from a senior colleague to heart when he left the audit firm and has diligently pursued his work ever since. What is the message for the future that such a Mr. Minegishi wants to convey to future accountants? We invite you to read the interview article tracing his life's trajectory.
