This designation, effective from the revised Act on Promotion of Proper Handling of Vacant Houses, etc., which came into effect on December 13, 2023, will strengthen support for citizens and vacant house owners through public-private collaboration to address the social issue of vacant houses nationwide.

Background of Designation as "Support Corporation for Vacant House Management and Utilization" and Future Developments

　In recent years, the increase in vacant houses has become a significant social issue. According to the "2023 Housing and Land Survey, Basic Tabulation of Housing and Households (Preliminary Tabulation Results)" (※1) released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, there are 9 million vacant houses nationwide, with a vacancy rate of 13.8%, reaching an all-time high.

　To strengthen measures against the continuously increasing number of vacant houses, the Act on Promotion of Proper Handling of Vacant Houses, etc., revised and enacted on December 13, 2023, newly established a system for "Support Corporations for Vacant House Management and Utilization." This system aims to create an environment that facilitates vacant house countermeasures through public-private collaboration, allowing private companies to play a complementary role to local governments.

　The Company operates "Crassone," a service that matches over 2,300 specialized construction companies nationwide with clients in the demolition construction domain, with a cumulative user base of over 160,000 (※2). Furthermore, its public-private partnership vacant house countermeasure projects, utilizing the "Demolition Cost Simulator" and "Life Planning Navigator for Homes," have been adopted for three consecutive years (FY2021-FY2023) by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's "Model Project for Vacant House Countermeasures Utilizing the Housing Market." Currently, the Company is advancing vacant house countermeasures in collaboration with 199 municipalities nationwide (as of March 31st).

　With this designation as a "Support Corporation for Vacant House Management and Utilization" in Joetsu City, the Company will engage in collaborative vacant house countermeasure initiatives.
