Sharp will launch its conversational AI character, 'Poketomo,' in Taiwan on Wednesday, July 1st. This marks the first overseas expansion for 'Poketomo.'
'Poketomo' is a conversational AI character that accompanies you in everyday life, offering a talking partner during moments of joy, happiness, or loneliness. Since its birth in December 2025, it has been embraced by many customers and has been engaging in ongoing conversations.
The Taiwan-specific version of 'Poketomo' supports conversation in Traditional Chinese. Similar to the Japanese model, Sharp will deploy both the robot hardware and a companion smartphone application. The robot is palm-sized, measuring approximately 12cm in height and weighing about 194g. It communicates emotions through gestures and a rainbow-colored light on its abdomen. Through app integration, it continuously deepens its relationship with the user by maintaining conversation and memory without interruption.
Sharp has also opened official social media accounts in Traditional Chinese (Instagram, Threads). These accounts will feature comic strips depicting daily life with 'Poketomo' and videos visualizing customer interactions with the character.
Today, Wednesday, May 20th, Sharp held a launch event at 'Denwell Taipei' in Taipei, Taiwan. Pre-orders began today at physical stores, such as mobile retail outlets and home appliance stores in Taiwan, as well as on various e-commerce sites.
