Timee, Inc. (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Ryo Ogawa), provider of the gig-work service "Timee," has signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Fujikawa Town, Yamanashi Prefecture (Mayor: Toshiki Mochizuki, hereinafter "Fujikawa Town"), Yamanashi Mirai Agricultural Cooperative (President: Tamihito Hagiwara), and the Fujikawa Town Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman: Yoshio Nakazawa).
Fujikawa Town in Yamanashi Prefecture is a town that attracts approximately 630,000 visitors annually (total tourist arrivals) thanks to its tourist facilities, including a roadside station, and tourism resources that leverage its rich nature, such as the cherry blossom festival at Daiboshi Park, which has been selected as one of the "100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan." The town is also actively implementing initiatives to support child-rearing with economic aid and a nurturing environment, aiming to become the "Number 1 town for raising children."
However, the town faces challenges due to population decline, a low birthrate, and an aging population, leading to a shortage of workers in its industries. Comparing the years 1985 and 2020, the number of workers in the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors has been decreasing, and the working-age population (15-64 years old) continues to decline. Furthermore, in the town's agriculture, which is centered on fruit cultivation and known for specialties like yuzu and pears, the aging of agricultural workers and a lack of successors have become serious issues. Against this backdrop, our company, Fujikawa Town, Yamanashi Mirai Agricultural Cooperative, and the Fujikawa Town Chamber of Commerce and Industry will collaborate to support the employment of child-rearing households by utilizing gig work, and to undertake initiatives for industrial recovery and regional revitalization. Leveraging the knowledge and expertise in utilizing spot work that we have cultivated, we will support local businesses in securing personnel and promote diverse working styles for workers of various ages living in the town, including those in child-rearing households. Together with Fujikawa Town, Yamanashi Mirai Agricultural Cooperative, and the Fujikawa Town Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we aim to resolve the regional challenges of Fujikawa Town.
