freee Launches Remote Version of 'freee-mcp', Previously Released as OSS

freee K.K. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Daisuke Sasaki; hereinafter "freee") has announced the launch of a remote version of "freee-mcp," an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server previously released as open-source software (OSS).

■ Remote version of 'freee-mcp' launched within one month of OSS release

On March 2, 2026, freee announced the release of "freee-mcp" as OSS, an MCP server that allows AI agents to directly operate various freee APIs. Since its release, it has received significant feedback and generated numerous use cases both inside and outside the company. The "freee-mcp" hackathon event held after the OSS release was also well-received, highlighting the high expectations for automating back-office tasks using AI agents.

However, many users of the OSS version requested a simpler initial setup process. In line with our mission to "empower small businesses to take center stage," freee has launched a remote MCP server version that eliminates the need for local environment configuration, allowing more users to experience the operational efficiency provided by AI agents.

freee will continue to expand the features available to AI agents and accelerate its evolution as a "SaaS used by AI."

1: No local setup required; start by simply connecting a URL

While the OSS version required users to build a development environment on their own PCs and complete multiple setup steps, the remote version is hosted by freee. Users can start using it simply by adding the URL in the Claude.ai settings screen. Even those unfamiliar with technical environment setup can now operate freee via AI agents immediately.
