Serial TV Novel's Main Theme "The Scent of the Wind - 'Kaze, Kaoru' Main Theme-" to be Released on March 30th!

The main theme for the serial TV novel "Kaze, Kaoru," which begins broadcasting on Monday, March 30, 2026, will also be released for streaming on the same day. This will be the first time in the history of serial TV novels that a theme will be available for both download and streaming simultaneously.

The music is composed by Yuji Nomi, who has worked on numerous projects including the movie "Whisper of the Heart" and the NHK special "Antarctica Epic Journey." The main theme's refreshing and warm melody, along with the sound of the hammered dulcimer, gently envelops the drama.

The serial TV novel "Kaze, Kaoru" is a fictionalized drama based on the lives of Kazu Ozeki and Miyabi Suzuki, who were the first to study modern nursing in Japan during the Meiji era.

The protagonists are Rin Ichinose (played by Ai Mikami), born into the family of a former chief retainer in a town in the Nasu region of Tochigi Prefecture, and Naomi Oya (played by Juri Kozaka), who was abandoned by her parents shortly after birth and raised by a Christian pastor.

The drama depicts the two, who graduated from the same nursing school, as they struggle and clash in the medical field, eventually becoming partners.

Yuji Nomi

Born in 1958 in Tokyo.

His music, created for his art performance activities, was recognized by Ryuichi Sakamoto, and in 1986, he released the album "Oshare TV" under Sakamoto's supervision.

He later participated in the arrangement of the film scores for "The Adventures of Milo and Otis" ("Koneko Monogatari") and "The Last Emperor," produced by Sakamoto.

In 1995, he composed the music for the Studio Ghibli animated film "Whisper of the Heart."

For Studio Ghibli, he also composed the music for the short films "Kujiratori" ("The Whale Hunt") and "Koro's Big Day Out," and the feature film "The Cat Returns."

In recent years, he has handled the music for the TV anime "Nichijou" and the movie "Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window." For NHK, he has been involved in the music for programs such as "Space: A Great Journey into the Unknown" and "Antarctica Epic Journey."
