This press release is a dream announced by a business that empathizes with the April Dream project and aims to make April 1st a day full of dreams, with the intention of realizing it in the future.
Our company supports April Dream, which aims to make April 1st a day for announcing dreams. This press release is the dream of "colourloop Inc."
colourloop Inc. (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; Representative Director: Motoko Uchimaru) is participating in the April Dream project under the theme "The end of a role becomes the next value," and is announcing the evolution of its unique technology "Colour Recycle System," which upcycles textile waste by color, and its aspirations for the future.
---
### Towards a society where what has served its purpose is reborn as the next value.
### colourloop reconstructs discarded fibers as materials, creating a circular future.
---
Where do the clothes you let go of go?
In Japan, approximately 2 million tons of clothing and old fabrics are discarded annually.
Many of them meet an "end" through incineration or landfill.
However, we believe that this "end" is precisely the "beginning" of the next value.
Giving a new role to clothes that have served their purpose.
When it comes to textile recycling, functionality and environmental aspects have been discussed so far. But what we want to ask is something much simpler.
### "Is it beautiful? Is it something to be proud of? Will you want to encounter it again?"
The "Colour Recycle System" developed by colourloop sorts textile waste by color, creating materials that can be proud of as design elements, rather than dull recycled materials. TEXLAM® boards, Reprit® recycled yarn, ReFIQ sheets, WFRP molded products—these are all forms in which fibers that have served their purpose are reborn as the next protagonists.
In 2025, one of our dreams came true at the Expo venue.
Five benches made from TEXLAM® boards were installed at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo venue. Approximately 600 T-shirts per bench—a total of about 3,000 used garments for all five benches—were reborn as "furniture" in a place where people sit, converse, and encounter the world.
This challenge was realized through co-creation with Nakano Co., Ltd., a professional in textile recycling, and Abode Co., Ltd., which handles furniture and product design. And without the support of many people who contributed through crowdfunding, these benches would not exist.
At the global stage of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, clothes that were supposed to be discarded became beautiful furniture that accompanied people—at that moment, the words "the end of a role becomes the next value" truly became real.
### The dream we envision is a society without an "end of a role."
It is not a dream where no clothes are discarded. We want to create a society where a cycle in which things that have served their purpose naturally connect to their next role becomes commonplace.
We aim for the day when recycled materials are chosen not as a symbol of eco-friendliness, but with the feeling of "I like this." To achieve this, we continue to develop materials, deliver products, create markets, and seek partners who will take on challenges with us.
### Won't you join us in expanding the possibilities of recycled materials?
We are looking for partners who resonate with this dream and will help us expand the possibilities of recycled materials. We welcome various forms of commitment, such as pro bono, spot, and internships.
