Scent, Handicrafts, and Books: Adult Experience Workshops in Satoyama, Kawanishi, Hyogo

The Kurokawa Satoyama Center, located in Kurokawa, Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, is holding adult experience workshops at its satoyama base, which utilizes the former Kurokawa Elementary School. This time, four programs will be offered: incense making, a hands-on experience of making thread from cotton, hand weaving, and a book club. Participants can enjoy a relaxing time unique to the satoyama, moving their hands while touching natural materials or talking about books. Each program can be joined individually, and the content is designed to be easy for beginners to participate in. ■ Handicraft Classroom ① Incense Making Experience making incense by grinding cedar leaves. If the weather is good, you will also collect cedar leaves in a nearby mountain. Date & Time: June 12 (Fri) 13:00-15:30 Target: Junior high school students and above Fee: 2,500 yen Application: Required ② Cotton Ginning to Thread Making & Hand Weaving Experience You can experience either cotton ginning (removing seeds from cotton) and thread making, or a hand weaving experience. Date & Time: June 18 (Thu) & June 28 (Sun) 13:00-16:00 Target: Junior high school students and above Fee: Cotton 3,500 yen / Hand weaving 5,500 yen Application: Required ■ Adult Atelier A free creative time for handicrafts, including kumihimo (braiding), simple weaving, wool work, and darning (clothing repair). Date & Time: June 21 (Sun) & June 26 (Fri) 10:00-15:00 Target: Junior high school students and above Fee: 1,000 yen Application: Not required (free entry and exit) ■ Satoyama Book Time A book club where participants bring books based on a theme and introduce them to each other. Spend a relaxing time in dialogue through books.
