Earth hacks Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Sumito Sekine; hereinafter 'Earth hacks'), a consumer co-creation platform aimed at developing decarbonization-related products, services, and businesses based on consumer feedback, has collaborated with The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) and H2O Retailing Corporation to implement 'Decabo Mikke!', a parent-child participation decarbonization program in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, that connects classroom learning to home practices and retail choices. This initiative is a 'social implementation' decarbonization model designed across local government, education, and retail sectors, based on insights gained from the 'Decabo Mikke!' environmental learning program held at the Shiodome Summer School in August 2025. By connecting insights gained in educational settings to household actions and actual product selection and purchasing behavior, the program aims to move beyond one-off learning and naturally root decarbonization into the daily lives of consumers. ■ Initiative Overview Taking place in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, the initiative included guest lectures at Takarazuka Municipal Komyo Elementary School, the distribution of home learning materials, and retail store measures at Izumiya Shopping Center Kobayashi. The initiative aimed to drive behavioral change toward decarbonization starting with children through three steps: (1) Discovering at school, (2) Practicing at home, and (3) Choosing at the store. 【Program Details】 <STEP 1> School: Experiential Lesson 'Decabo Mikke!' Rather than treating decarbonization and environmental issues as 'difficult topics,' experiential lessons were held at Takarazuka Municipal Komyo Elementary School to help students discover decarbonization efforts in their daily surroundings. With the cooperation of Panasonic Eco Technology Center Co., Ltd. (PETEC), the workshop included dismantling a television to find recyclable parts and a quiz-based learning session on decarbonization actions that can be practiced at school and home. Through these experiences, the program aimed to help children perceive decarbonization as a personal matter and gain insights that lead to future actions.
