April Dream COCOLON's Dream: "Continue to deliver opportunities for social participation to children with severe motor and intellectual disabilities and their families."

NPO EPO (Edogawa-ku, Tokyo, Director: Erika Mori), which operates the community "COCOLON", announced on April 1, 2026, its endorsement of the "April Dream" project conducted by PR TIMES Co., Ltd., and reaffirms its dream to "continue to provide opportunities for social participation to children with severe motor and intellectual disabilities and their families."

This release conveys COCOLON's vision for the future and its initiatives to achieve it.

The difficult reality of "going out" For children with severe motor and intellectual disabilities and their families, going out or participating in events is never easy. Social interaction is limited due to a combination of factors such as medical care needs, transportation burdens, and lack of diaper changing spaces.

As a result, opportunities to "connect with someone" or "experience something new" are being lost.

According to a survey on the living conditions of children requiring medical care and their families (2018):

・No opportunities to enjoy age-appropriate activities or receive therapeutic education: 48.3% ・Don't know about support services/systems for children requiring medical care: 45.1% ・It is extremely difficult to go out with a child requiring medical care: 65.3% ・Feel socially isolated: 51.3%

More than half responded that they "feel socially isolated," making it easy to imagine the difficulty of going out.
