Premier Cho Jung-tai: Sufficient Energy for Industry, No Power Shortages Before 2032

Premier Cho Jung-tai stated in an interview today that the government is promoting a second energy transition to provide sufficient clean energy that meets industrial needs. According to Taipower's calculations, there will be no power shortages before 2032. When asked on the 25th whether Taiwan's energy infrastructure could meet the needs of future AI data centers in the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park, Huang bluntly stated that Taiwan needs more energy. Before the Legislative Yuan's policy interpellation session this morning, Cho addressed Huang's comments. Cho pointed out that the government's second energy transition aims to provide clean energy that meets modern industrial needs, including converting coal-fired power plants to gas-fired ones to improve air quality and efficiency. Cho stated that according to Taipower's meticulous calculations, there will be no power shortages before 2032. He added that traditional nuclear power plants are undergoing substantive reviews, with the Nuclear Safety Commission evaluating Taipower's safety checks and restart plans, emphasizing that Taiwan has a responsibility to global industries to provide clean and stable electricity.
