Prosecutors Chou Wei-chih and Tuan Ke-fang from the Qiaotou District Prosecutors Office were honored today as 'Model Civil Servants' by the Ministry of Justice for their successful investigations into a spy case involving a journalist and the illegal mining case in Meinong, Kaohsiung. The Qiaotou District Prosecutors Office stated that the 'Model Civil Servant' award is a prestigious honor within the Ministry of Justice, with a rigorous selection process involving initial reviews and final assessments by the Ministry's performance evaluation committee. Prosecutor Chou Wei-chih has long specialized in national security and anti-corruption cases. In 2025, he led the investigation into a leak by a Marine Corps sergeant, conducting five waves of searches that uncovered a spy ring involving journalist Lin Chen-yu. Over 20 individuals were detained, marking one of the most significant espionage cases in recent years. Prosecutor Tuan Ke-fang successfully prosecuted local politicians involved in corruption related to green energy projects. She also led the 'Greater Kaohsiung Land Protection Project,' which uncovered environmental crimes in the Meinong Grand Canyon area, where illegal soil extraction and waste dumping occurred, leading to the indictment of a criminal group backed by a former aide to a Kaohsiung city councilor. Both prosecutors were honored by Minister of Justice Cheng Ming-chien today. The Qiaotou District Prosecutors Office reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing professional capabilities and collaborating with law enforcement agencies to maintain national security and social order.
