Taipei City Orders 6-Month Suspension for Guangze Medical Aesthetics Sanmin Branch Over Privacy Violations

Following reports of hidden cameras and illegal filming at several medical aesthetics clinics, the Taipei City Department of Health has continued its inspections. Today, the department announced that the Guangze Medical Aesthetics Sanmin branch in Taipei was found to have severely violated patient privacy, resulting in a fine of NT$500,000 and an immediate 6-month suspension. On the 15th, the Department of Health stated that the Airlee Daan branch, Airlee Nanjing branch, and Guangze Clinic Zhongxiao branch had also severely violated patient privacy, violating Article 108, Paragraph 6 of the Medical Care Act regarding 'engaging in indecent business that harms public morals or human health,' and were each fined and ordered to suspend operations for 6 months. The Department of Health issued a press release today stating that continued inspections revealed that the Guangze Clinic Taipei Sanmin branch also had severe patient privacy violations, leading to a fine of NT$500,000 and an immediate 6-month suspension. The Department of Health stated that as of yesterday, it had inspected 114 clinics, beauty and slimming salons, and postpartum care centers. Maintaining a zero-tolerance attitude toward medical privacy, the department will continue regular and unannounced inspections to protect the rights of citizens. If any evidence of illegal privacy infringement is found, it will actively conduct administrative investigations and refer the cases to prosecutors and police for further clarification.
