Vice President: Taiwan-US Partnership is Stable, Taiwan to Continue Strengthening Asymmetric Capabilities

Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim stated that in the face of intense geopolitical challenges, the Taiwan-US partnership remains stable. She emphasized that Taiwan will continue to strengthen its self-defense capabilities, promote military modernization, and build up asymmetric combat power, while also developing its domestic defense industry and drone supply chain. The ultimate goal of strengthening defense is to deter and prevent conflict. Taiwan is implementing reforms such as extending mandatory military service, enhancing reserve forces, and focusing on defensive and asymmetric systems. Hsiao noted the significant growth of Taiwan's drone industry over the past two years and pledged continued government support.
