Taiwan's Immigration Agency to Hold Summer Camp for Children of New Immigrants to Explore Careers

(CNA, Taipei, May 21) With summer vacation approaching, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) announced today that it will hold three sessions of a multicultural training camp for the children of new immigrants in July and August. The camp will help students explore career paths through workplace simulations and arrange visits to well-known companies, inviting high school (and vocational high school) students and above to participate. The NIA stated in a press release this afternoon that to assist children of new immigrants and Taiwanese nationals in high school (and vocational high school) and above in exploring career directions during the summer, it will launch the "New Immigrants' Children Multicultural Training Camp - Career Experience Activity" this year, divided into three sessions in the northern, central, and southern regions. The northern session is scheduled to visit SYSTEX Corporation on July 13, the central session will visit Giant Group on July 23, and the southern session will visit CHIMEI FOOD on August 4. The NIA said the career experience activity will assist students in exploring careers through workplace simulations and will invite experts for forums on career aptitude assessment and development. An interesting psychological test will be used to help participants understand which animal characteristics they resemble in the workplace. Additionally, through company visits and hands-on courses, participants will get to enter different industries such as information technology, leisure, and food, for an immersive initial workplace experience. Children of new immigrants and Taiwanese nationals studying in domestic high schools (and vocational high schools) and above are welcome to sign up. The NIA stated that each session of the career experience activity is limited to 30 participants. Applicants must first complete online registration and mail the paper application materials within the deadline, which is June 5.
