Couple Referred to Prosecutors for Public Indecency at Yangmingshan's Qingtiangang

(CNA, Taipei, May 21, by reporter Huang Li-yun) A man and a woman recently engaged in disorderly conduct at Qingtiangang in Yangmingshan National Park. The Shilin Police Precinct was notified and summoned the two for questioning. According to sources, the involved man and woman reported to the station on the 17th and confessed without reservation. After questioning, they were sent to the Shilin District Prosecutors Office on charges of public indecency. On the 15th, the Shilin Precinct of the Taipei City Police Department learned from social media platforms that a man and woman were allegedly engaged in indecent acts outdoors in the Qingtiangang area, which was recorded by a live camera. The case was immediately handed over to the Shanzihou Police Station for investigation. Police expanded their review of surrounding surveillance cameras and filtered relevant footage, identifying the suspects and their specific vehicle license plate on the 15th, and notified the parties to report for questioning. The man and woman gave their statements at the police station on the 17th, both confessing without reservation. However, they claimed they were unaware of the surveillance camera at the scene, expressed deep regret, and said they were shocked. The case was referred to the Shilin District Prosecutors Office on suspicion of public indecency. The Shilin Precinct reminds the public that recording and disseminating sexual images of others without consent violates the Criminal Code and is punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to NT$500,000. The public is urged not to arbitrarily film or spread indecent images to avoid breaking the law.
