Taiwan Stocks Fall 154 Points to Close at 40020, Holding the 40,000 Mark

It briefly dipped below the 40,000-point mark near the close but quickly recovered, with the day's high-low range reaching 471.96 points. The weighted index of the centralized market ultimately fell by 154.74 points to close at 40020.82, with a trading value of NT$978.923 billion. Among the four major heavyweight stocks, TSMC closed down NT$20, or 0.91%, at its lowest price of NT$2185. MediaTek rose by NT$75, or 2.38%, to close at NT$3230.
