EVA Air Upgrades Aircraft on Three Kaohsiung Routes to Tap Southern Market

Targeting the growing travel and business demand from southern passengers, EVA Air announced that starting today, it is upgrading aircraft by introducing the wide-body Airbus A330-300 on routes departing from Kaohsiung, covering the three major destinations of Tokyo, Shanghai, and Macau. In a press release today, EVA Air stated that the inaugural flight with the upgraded aircraft was for the Kaohsiung-Tokyo Narita route, for which the airline created a special Airbus A330-300 themed lounge at the boarding gate. EVA Air President Clay Sun stated that in response to the heating demand and promising future potential of the southern market, this optimization of the route network demonstrates concrete results in deeply cultivating the Southern Taiwan market and advancing the overall network strategy. He also thanked the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Civil Aeronautics Administration for their significant assistance, which allowed EVA Air to expand its capacity at Kaohsiung Airport and build a network structure with more long-term development space. A passenger surnamed Lin on today's inaugural flight said he was very happy to be on the first flight of EVA Air's wide-body aircraft from Kaohsiung to Tokyo. He added that he no longer needs to travel to the north to enjoy a comfortable large plane, and the twin-aisle design is very convenient for boarding, deplaning, and moving around. EVA Air pointed out that it is actively promoting Kaohsiung as its second operational hub. The introduction of the A330-300 wide-body aircraft to Kaohsiung increases the seat count to 309, a significant rise of nearly 70% compared to the single-aisle configuration of the previously operated A321. It also features an upgraded personal audio-visual entertainment system, more spacious cabin space, and complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi. EVA Air's routes from Kaohsiung include destinations such as Tokyo Narita, Shanghai Pudong, Macau, Osaka, Fukuoka, Hong Kong, and Seoul, with a weekly capacity of 56 flights.
