New Taipei Mayoral Race: Su Tsiao-hui Vows a More Convenient Yonghe, Lee Sze-chuan Pledges to Boost Yingge's Development

Su Tsiao-hui aims to expand public-led urban renewal to make Yonghe the most convenient and industrially prosperous home, while Lee Sze-chuan advocates for driving industrial and tourism development to keep more young people working in Yingge. KMT New Taipei mayoral candidate Lee Sze-chuan, accompanied by KMT councilor Lu Chia-kai and HSU,SHIH-KANG, chairman of the New Taipei City Industrial and Tourism Promotion and Development Association, visited the Shu's Pottery studio today to participate in a pottery experience and an industry forum. Lee was invited to leave a handprint on a ceramic disc bearing the characters 'De Chuan' and 'Jia Kang'. In response to local industries' difficulties with rising costs and business operations, Lee pointed out that to keep young people, there must be more local employment opportunities. However, due to past high land costs, many factories have moved away, directly impacting youth employment. He stated that in the future, 'setting up surface rights' could be considered as an alternative to land sales, using a reasonable formula to ensure stable rents, encouraging factories to stay local and create stable job opportunities. Lee emphasized that Yingge's ceramics are a unique local industry, and industrial transformation must keep pace with the times, giving the second generation of entrepreneurs a stage for online promotion and innovative management. He also promised to continue strengthening local transportation infrastructure to drive industry and promote tourism, creating more youth employment and encouraging more young people to stay and work in Yingge. DPP New Taipei mayoral candidate Su Tsiao-hui held a forum with DPP councilor candidate Luo Wen-chung in Yonghe tonight. She stated that in the nearly 700 days since she announced her candidacy, her poll numbers have risen from a 25% deficit to a tight race, which she says shows that New Taipei citizens are using their actions to say that New Taipei needs change. Citizens need a leader who can lead with professionalism, allocate resources, and use new concepts to elevate the city. Su stated that a future New Taipei mayor must have warm empathy, the ability to listen to everyone, integrate opinions, and use new concepts and technologies to solve old problems. She said that if she becomes mayor, she will accelerate the Yonghe administrative park project, expand public-led urban renewal, and address the old urban districts in Yonghe that have been difficult to change but need it, making urban renewal no longer out of reach. She said the government would lead a comprehensive replanning of communities, adding new facilities and construction while preserving local traditional culture and old stories, making commuting safer and allowing homes and shops to prosper together.
