A travel operator recently announced trends in Taiwan's family travel market, stating that according to their survey, family travel will prioritize the needs of the 'family,' such as family-friendly activities and facilities, rather than being purely price-driven. Travel operator Trip.com recently issued a press release on the 2026 Taiwan family travel trends, noting that AI technology is redefining the travel planning process for modern families, transforming it from clicking dozens of windows and comparing trivial data to a one-click planning model. Trip.com stated that based on an analysis of nearly a thousand consumers' behavior in the Taiwanese market, Taiwanese parents exhibit 'precise decision-making.' Compared to other global markets, users in Taiwan and South Korea prefer to book hotels just a few days before departure. Trip.com mentioned that overall, using another AI tool on the platform as an example, AI-assisted order volume increased by 400% year-on-year, and using AI tools to compare hotels significantly reduced clicks during the planning process by 80%. The survey also found that for Taiwanese parents aged 25 to 44, the primary considerations when choosing accommodation and flights are 'family-friendly dining and activities,' 'family-friendly facilities,' and 'proximity to children's attractions,' rather than just price. They show a strong demand for a 'sense of control' in planning, preferring flexible, self-driving itineraries with a relaxed pace. Trip.com pointed out that for the common 'three-generation travel' demand in Taiwan, specific tags like 'no hiking,' 'less walking,' and 'must have a nap' have a high occurrence rate. Moreover, Taiwanese parents are more willing to pay a premium for a 'smoother experience,' such as guaranteed connecting rooms for families, all-inclusive parent-child package tours, direct flights to reduce transfer times, and one-stop family travel solutions. In addition to family travel, the solo travel market is also expanding. Travel operator Agoda recently noted that from January to April this year, solo traveler searches in Taiwan increased by 16% year-on-year, indicating that 'traveling alone' is quickly becoming a new trend. Among these, searches for overseas solo travel grew by 20%, higher than the 10% for domestic solo travel. Agoda stated that Japan and South Korea remain the favorite destinations for Taiwanese solo travelers, with Tokyo, Seoul, and Osaka consistently topping the popular search lists. However, the biggest dark horse in recent years is Busan, South Korea, with search volume increasing by a staggering 71%, making it the newest popular city for Taiwanese solo travelers. Agoda also mentioned that search volumes for Fukuoka and Sapporo in Japan grew by 51% and 33% respectively, showing that Taiwanese solo travelers increasingly prefer city trips that are suitable for short stays and have a comfortable pace, such as 'slow-paced city tourism' combining food, shopping, cafes, and local cultural experiences, which is rapidly gaining popularity in Northeast Asia.
