High Heat Warnings for Junior High School Exams in South-Kaohsiung-Pingtung; Expert Wu De-rong: 17th Will Be Hot as Summer

The weather bureau has issued high heat warnings for the South-Kaohsiung-Pingtung region, advising people to be aware of high temperatures above 36 degrees. Weather expert Wu De-rong said the weather is improving, with occasional showers in the eastern region and potential afternoon thunderstorms in the central and southern regions; the high temperature in the south could reach 36 degrees, and tomorrow will be as hot as summer.

The Central Weather Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has issued a high heat warning. The weather is hot, with yellow light signals for Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County during the day, warning of temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius.

The 115th Junior High School Education Exam takes place today and tomorrow. Wu De-rong, an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at National Central University, stated in his 'Leak Heavenly Secrets' column for the Meteorological Application Promotion Foundation that the latest European model (ECMWF) simulation shows that the front will move south to the Bashi Channel today and tomorrow. Weather in all regions is improving, with occasional local showers in the eastern region, and potential local showers or thunderstorms in the central and southern regions in the afternoon.

Wu De-rong pointed out that temperatures will rise today, and tomorrow will be hot like summer. It is expected that northern Taiwan will be 20-32 degrees today, central Taiwan 22-34 degrees, southern Taiwan 21-36 degrees, and eastern Taiwan 20-33 degrees.

Wu De-rong stated that the latest model simulation shows the front will have moved far away by the 18th-20th, with the atmosphere becoming increasingly stable and days sunny and hot like summer. Local showers or thunderstorms may occur in mountainous areas in the afternoon, with small parts of neighboring plains occasionally affected.

Wu De-rong pointed out that the latest European model simulation has been adjusted to show that Taiwan will be within the warm air mass ahead of the front from the 21st to the 25th, with the atmosphere generally stable, sunny, and hot during the day, with occasional local short-term rain in mountainous areas in the afternoon.

Wu De-rong said that the latest model simulations from various countries show that the next front will only show signs of moving south to affect Taiwan after more than 10 days, but due to theoretical limits, the dates simulated by various countries' models for the southward movement vary greatly, and should continue to be observed.
