32 Violations in Junior High School Entrance Exam Chinese Subject, Ministry of Education Reminds Not to Damage Test Booklets

(Central News Agency reporter Chen Chih-chung, Taipei, May 16) For the 115th Republic of China Junior High School Entrance Examination, a total of 32 violations have been statistical for the Chinese language subject. The majority are still cases of prematurely turning test booklets or answering beyond the time limit, but there are also scattered instances of candidates damaging test booklets. The Ministry of Education reminds that whether it's intentionally drawing on, folding, or defacing answer cards, all are considered violations.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education, a total of 2031 people were absent for the third session of the Chinese language subject nationwide today, with an absenteeism rate of 1.11%, which is not significantly different from last year. A total of 32 single-session violations occurred, 11 of which were prematurely turning test booklets, prematurely writing, or answering beyond the time limit. No major examination fraud has been reported so far.

Wang Yen-huang, director of the off-site examination office, mentioned that there were 2 cases in the Chinese language subject and 3 cases in the earlier social studies subject of "intentionally damaging test booklets," including drawing on test booklets or digging, defacing, or folding answer cards. These were discovered by examination staff, registered as violations, and will be submitted to the examination area's affairs committee and the national violations handling committee for deliberation and handling.

In addition, one serious violation of "maliciously disturbing order inside and outside the examination room with serious circumstances" for the social studies subject this morning was later corrected to a general violation.

Wang Yen-huang explained that candidates sometimes unconsciously stand up, causing some commotion. After further investigation by the examination area, it was found that the student required special attention for emotional and behavioral issues, so it was reclassified as a general violation with minor circumstances.
