A Myanmar man in his 30s, surnamed Wang, was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer and initially lost hope. Thanks to a cross-border video consultation arranged by Taipei Medical University Hospital's International Medical Center, he came to Taiwan for treatment. Led by Dr. Po-Li Wei, the medical team utilized precision genetic testing, total neoadjuvant therapy, and Da Vinci robotic surgery. The treatment successfully eradicated the cancer cells without lymph node metastasis and preserved his anal function, allowing him to avoid low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) and resume a normal life.
