The Taiwan People's Party (TPP) caucus proposed extending the current Legislative Yuan session to August 31. Despite opposition from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) caucus, the proposal was passed during today's legislative session due to the numerical advantage of the Blue (KMT) and White (TPP) coalition. Out of 92 attending legislators, 53 voted in favor and 39 against. The TPP stated that the extension is necessary because the general budget for the 115th fiscal year has not yet been fully reviewed. Additionally, the executive branch has yet to submit the list of nominees for key vacancies, including members of the National Communications Commission (NCC) and Grand Justices of the Judicial Yuan, for the legislature to exercise its consent rights. The extension aims to ensure thorough review of bills and budgets.
