(CNA, Beijing, 14th, Comprehensive Foreign Report) US President Donald Trump, currently on a state visit to China, said today that his earlier talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping were extremely positive and productive, and at a dinner, he invited President Xi and his wife to visit the White House on September 24.
According to AFP and Reuters, Trump delivered a speech at the dinner following the Trump-Xi meeting. He told Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan: "I am honored to invite you, Peng Liyuan, to visit us at the White House on September 24, and we look forward to it."
He also reviewed the day's events, saying: "This has been a great honor. Today has been a fantastic day, a truly unparalleled grand welcome."
Speaking of Xi Jinping, Trump added: "It is a great honor for me to meet with you."
Trump noted that his earlier conversation with Xi was "extremely positive and productive."
