Taipei, May 13 (CNA) Smart device manufacturer Microprogram announced today a 5-year strategic cooperation plan with US-based Rollingtrans to jointly promote the AI smart upgrade and business expansion of Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) in the United States. The first phase of orders was delivered in the first quarter of this year.
Microprogram stated in a press release that it will leverage its existing R&D capabilities in vehicle networking system integration, software platforms, and data services, combined with Rollingtrans' experience in US fleet customers, channels, and local operations, to quickly enter the North American market, expand overseas revenue sources, and inject mid-to-long-term operational growth momentum.
Microprogram noted that the US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) mandates that most commercial vehicle drivers and carriers who need to record driving hours and duty status must use compliant ELDs, with only a few exceptions such as short-haul operations. Under roadside inspections and regular audit mechanisms, failure to use ELDs as required will result in penalties, risk of being taken out of service, and business interruption, thereby increasing overall operating costs.
