(Central News Agency, Taipei, 12th) Major industrial paper manufacturer Cheng Loong announced today that its board of directors resolved to increase capital in its subsidiary Cheng Loong Southeast Asia Holding Co., Ltd. with a transaction volume of 50 million shares and a total transaction amount of US$50 million. This capital will ultimately be transferred to its subsidiary Cheng Loong Binh Duong Paper Co., Ltd. (Cheng Loong Binh Duong Paper Co., Ltd.) to replenish operating funds and improve its financial structure.

Cheng Loong stated that it will increase capital by US$50 million to its wholly-owned subsidiary Cheng Loong Southeast Asia Holding Co., Ltd., and then Southeast Asia Holding will transfer the same amount of funds to its subsidiary Cheng Loong Vietnam Paper Investment Co., Ltd., with the funds ultimately flowing into Cheng Loong Binh Duong Paper Co., Ltd..

Cheng Loong Binh Duong Paper is the production hub in Vietnam. After this capital increase, Cheng Loong Group's cumulative investment will reach US$420 million. Cheng Loong stated that the capital increase funds will be injected in installments according to actual capital requirements.

Cheng Loong also announced its first-quarter financial report today. Consolidated revenue for the quarter was NT$10.422 billion, net profit attributable to owners of the parent company was NT$623 million, and basic earnings per share were NT$0.56.

Cheng Loong General Manager Chang Ching-Piao previously stated at an investor conference that since entering the Vietnamese market in 2005, Cheng Loong has continuously expanded local investments, establishing an integrated industrial paper and paper container production system.
