Ge Yong-le, Secretary-General of Chenghuang Temple, stated that Lai Yung-chuan served as chairman for eight years and was deeply loved by everyone. Upon hearing the news of his passing, people from all walks of life expressed their regret.

Ge Yong-le told the Central News Agency reporter that yesterday was the 23rd day of the third lunar month, Mazu's birthday. After the group worship ceremony at Chenghuang Temple in the morning, news of Honorary Chairman Lai Yung-chuan's passing was received, and all directors and supervisors of the temple felt regret.

Ge Yong-le stated that Lai Yung-chuan served two terms, totaling eight years, as chairman, establishing a profound foundation for temple affairs. He was deeply loved by everyone and tirelessly promoted social welfare activities, earning widespread praise from all sectors.

Ge Yong-le pointed out that Lai Yung-chuan was a private friend of President Lai Ching-te. President Lai has almost always attended the major celebrations held by Chenghuang Temple in early August of the lunar calendar in recent years, and this February, President Lai even specifically visited Chenghuang Temple to distribute lucky bags with Lai Yung-chuan.

Lai Yung-chuan's wife stated that her husband had been in the restroom for a long time yesterday morning and had not come out. Family members noticed something was amiss, opened the door, and found him unconscious on the floor. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by ambulance but unfortunately passed away. His wife said that he passed away peacefully, without pain.

Lai Yung-chuan's wife said that when Lai Yung-chuan was 80 years old, he was invited to take over as chairman of Chenghuang Temple. At that time, family members objected, fearing that his health would not be able to bear the burden.
