(Central News Agency, Rome, 8th, comprehensive foreign reports) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, having just concluded his visit to Italy and the Vatican, stated in an interview today that the Taiwan issue is very likely to be discussed during President Trump's summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing next week.
Rubio was asked by reporters about the Taiwan issue earlier, and he emphasized that US policy remains unchanged: "We do not want to see any forced or coerced changes to the situation," as this would destabilize the entire world.
Rubio also said that he does not believe the Taiwan issue will be the focus of the "Trump-Xi meeting," but it will certainly be mentioned, and the stability of the Taiwan Strait is beneficial for the United States, China, and the world.
Donald Trump is expected to visit Beijing and meet with Xi Jinping from May 14th to 15th, marking the first visit by a US president to China in nearly a decade. (Editor: Chen Yen-chun) 1150508
