Finnish President: Stronger German Military Means Safer Europe

Steinmeier acknowledged that US military bases in Germany, like Ramstein, serve strategic interests for the US. Stubb expressed confidence in US support should Russia threaten Finland, arguing that Russia's nuclear weapons target Washington and New York as well. He also suggested that Europe should coordinate its stance on Russia with the US, acknowledging differences in their approaches. Both presidents admitted past misjudgments regarding Russia and the Nord Stream pipeline. Germany is significantly investing in defense, with Finnish companies like Patria, Nokia, and ICEYE contributing to European defense capabilities.
