(Central News Agency reporters Huang Li-yun, Liu Chien-pang, Yang Shu-min, Taipei 7th) Following suspicions of hidden pinhole cameras in Aierli clinics, raising public concern about the group's postpartum care centers, the Taipei City Department of Health today, in conjunction with the Taipei City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, conducted an expanded inspection of the Aierli Postpartum Care Center in Neihu and found no illegal activities.
Regarding the suspicion of hidden pinhole cameras at the Aierli Postpartum Care Center, the Department of Health conducted an expanded inspection this afternoon, accompanied by the Criminal Investigation Division's Forensic Science Team, at its branch in Neihu District, Taipei City. It is understood that the police conducted relevant detection on-site and found no surveillance cameras or illegal activities.
The Taipei City Department of Legal Affairs also stated in a press release that in response to the Aierli Medical Beauty Clinic case causing consumer panic, a total of nearly 50 consumer dispute complaints related to the clinic have been received by Taipei City from the 1st to 1 PM on the 7th.
To assist affected consumers in protecting their rights, the Department of Legal Affairs said that in addition to actively cooperating with the police investigation progress, the Taipei City Government will take two response measures. First, "deliberate on initiating class action lawsuits." They have maintained close contact with the Consumers' Foundation, Chinese Taipei, and the Taiwan Consumers' Protection Association to evaluate the characteristics of the large number of potential victims in this case.
At the same time, pending the prosecutor's future investigation, if it is confirmed that there are more than 20 affected consumers, they will deliberate on inviting the aforementioned consumer protection groups to evaluate undertaking class action lawsuits to assist consumers in seeking compensation for damages to their personality rights and property rights.
Second, establish "Aierli Medical Beauty Consumer Dispute Special Legal Consultation Service." To balance the protection of affected consumers' privacy and maintain the quality of legal consultation services, the Taipei City Government will establish one-on-one legal consultation services; from the 11th to the 13th, from 2 PM to 5 PM daily, two lawyers will be arranged in the legal consultation room on the first floor of the City Hall building to provide relevant legal relief consultations for预约民眾.
The Department of Legal Affairs explained that considering the high privacy nature of this case, to properly control the number of people on-site and protect public privacy, this special legal consultation will adopt a full online reservation system. Those in need can complete reservations by clicking "Aierli Medical Beauty Consumer Dispute Legal Consultation" through the "Legal Consultation Reservation System."
The Department of Legal Affairs stated that this case is still under investigation by the District Prosecutor's Office for clarification, and the final outcome still awaits judicial investigation. Medical beauty clinic treatment areas and changing spaces are highly private environments. If operators install disguised photographic equipment without clear notification and consent, it has seriously infringed upon consumers' privacy rights. Such acts, in addition to suspected violations of the Medical Care Act's confidentiality obligations, may also constitute criminal offenses related to obstruction of privacy and sexual privacy under the Criminal Code.
