Press Release Information Title: Maternity Benefit for Single Birth Supplemented to NT$100,000; National Pension Insured Mothers Can Receive Over NT$50,000 More
(Central News Agency reporter Wu Hsin-yun, Chen Chieh-ling, Wang Shu-fen, Taipei 7th) The government is promoting the "Good Pregnancy 3 Programs." Starting this year, regardless of the type of social insurance or if uninsured, a single birth will receive the original maternity benefit supplemented to a new total of NT$100,000. Payments are being disbursed sequentially before Mother's Day. For example, National Pension insured individuals, who originally received NT$42,206, will now receive an additional NT$50,000.
In response to the severe issue of declining birth rates, the Executive Yuan launched the "Good Pregnancy 3 Programs" this year. This includes uniformly raising the existing maternity benefits across different social insurance schemes to NT$100,000. Citizens will receive NT$100,000 for a single birth and NT$200,000 for twins. The total budget for this initiative is NT$4.72 billion, and the funds are already in place.
According to regulations, different social insurance identities have varying maternity benefit standards. Labor Insurance provides 2 months' worth of average monthly insured salary, National Pension Insurance provides 2 months' worth of monthly insured amount, and Farmers' Health Insurance provides 3 months' worth of monthly insured amount. Therefore, with this uniform increase to NT$100,000, different additional amounts will be calculated.
For Labor Insurance, if calculated based on the highest insured salary of NT$45,800 x 2, the maximum benefit is NT$91,600. With the supplement to NT$100,000, an additional NT$8,400 can be claimed.
For Farmers' Health Insurance, the current monthly insured amount is uniformly NT$20,400, and the maternity benefit is NT$61,200. With the supplement to NT$100,000, an additional NT$38,800 can be claimed.
For National Pension Insurance, calculated based on NT$21,103, the maternity benefit is NT$42,206. With the supplement to NT$100,000, an additional NT$57,794 subsidy can be claimed.
The Bureau of Labor Insurance stated that as long as the newborn is a Taiwanese citizen born on or after January 1st of this year, regardless of whether the mother is insured under Labor Insurance, National Pension Insurance, Farmers' Health Insurance, or is not participating in any relevant social insurance, they can apply for the original social insurance maternity benefit plus the government-issued maternity subsidy, totaling NT$100,000 per child.
The Bureau of Labor Insurance recently initiated payment operations to retroactively disburse benefits to those whose payments were delayed due to unapproved budgets since January this year. The Bureau of Labor Insurance stated that payments for National Pension insured individuals and those not participating in relevant social insurance were credited today, while payments for Labor Insurance and Farmers' Health Insurance will be credited tomorrow.
