The Taichung City Fire Bureau stated in a press release that on May 5th, they received a report from a caller stating that his girlfriend, Ms. Yao, had gone solo climbing on the Zhijiyang Trail from May 1st to May 3rd, and he had been unable to contact her since. The caller drove to the trailhead and found Ms. Yao's car still parked there, requesting assistance.
The Taichung City Fire Bureau dispatched 1 vehicle and 4 personnel from the Lishan branch. After preparation, they led the team to the accident site. Search and rescue personnel arrived at Piaodan Mountain Hut at 5:20 PM on the 5th, where they found the missing person's mountaineering equipment and car keys. On the 6th, they searched towards Xueshan Main Peak but found nothing. On the 7th, the first team withdrew, and the second team continued the search, but the person has not yet been found.
Well-known mountaineering writer and YouTuber Huang Yu-xiang also assisted in reposting the missing person information on his Facebook page "Snow Ram Vision of a Snow Ram."
The post stated that if any friends who have hiked from Zhijiyang to Xueshan Main Peak notice any clues or abnormalities, please call the Lishan Police Station of the Heping Precinct, Taichung City Police Bureau, to report. According to information provided by Beast Runners, the missing person should have encountered a group of about 7 or 8 young people camping at the old site of Xueshan Villa between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM on May 2nd.
