(Central News Agency reporter Yeh Su-ping, Taipei, 7th) Following the failure of yesterday's cross-party consultation on the special defense act in the Legislative Yuan, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesperson Lin Chu-yin stated today that neither the NT$380 billion + N version proposed by Cheng Li-wen nor the NT$800 billion version by Hsu Chiao-hsin can compare to the Executive Yuan's NT$1.25 trillion over 8 years version, which was jointly researched by Taiwan and the US and has a comprehensive plan for national defense buildup and combat readiness. Lin urged KMT and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) legislators to support the Executive Yuan's version if they value national defense security and local industries.

In a press release, Lin Chu-yin pointed out that the Executive Yuan's version not only covers military procurement but also incorporates comprehensive planning for commercial procurement and commissioned manufacturing, which can most effectively strengthen the overall combat capability of the national army and drive the development of the domestic defense industry. It is estimated to create an output value of NT$400 billion and 90,000 job opportunities.

Lin Chu-yin emphasized that it is easy to talk about supporting national defense and valuing industry, but the true attitude will be revealed by this vote. She asked KMT and TPP legislators to prove their commitment with action: if they want to strengthen national defense and support local industries, they should support the Executive Yuan's special defense budget act.

In addition, the DPP's official Facebook page also posted that KMT legislator and KMT Kaohsiung mayoral candidate Ko Chih-en had just called on the KMT caucus not to 'sell us out.' Furthermore, Legislative Yuan Vice President and Taichung mayoral candidate Chiang Chi-chen's constituency, Taichung, possesses precision machinery, aerospace, and drone supply chains, making it a key hub for the domestic drone industry.

The DPP stated that if opposition party members are truly worried about 'being sold out' and truly value Taichung's industries and economy, they should support the Executive Yuan's version, which 'most emphasizes the defense industry.' (Edited by: Lin Ke-lun) 1150507
