Central News Agency (CNA) reporter Li Ya-wen, Taipei, 7th May – A Chinese doctoral student at National Chengchi University submitted a journal article extensively discussing military deterrence and 'unification by force' against Taiwan. The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) stated that this is military intimidation disguised in academic language. However, as the individual is still a student, a tolerant attitude is being adopted, and the matter will be addressed after they complete their studies.

The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) held its regular press conference this afternoon, presided over by Deputy Minister and Spokesperson Liang Wen-chieh.

Liang Wen-chieh stated that the National Chengchi University doctoral student used certain terms in the thesis, such as referring to the then-Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan as an 'illegal visit,' calling for mainland China to strengthen its strategic narrative towards Taiwan, and emphasizing the greater effectiveness of military exercises in deterring Taiwan.

He said that this is military intimidation against Taiwan disguised in academic language, which is unacceptable. However, as the individual still holds student status, and Taiwan maintains a welcoming stance towards mainland Chinese students, a tolerant attitude is being adopted as much as possible.

Liang Wen-chieh emphasized that regarding these remarks calling for military intimidation against Taiwan, the matter will be handled after the student completes their studies, stating, 'This is a special concession we offer to mainland Chinese students.' (Edited by Yang Sheng-ru) 1150507
