4 Neihu Police Officers Involved in Leaks and Document Destruction Released on Bail of NT$100,000 to NT$500,000

(Central News Agency Reporter Hsieh Chun-lin Taipei 6th News) The Taipei District Prosecutors Office was informed that four police officers from the Neihu Police Precinct in Taipei City were suspected of being involved in cases such as leaking secrets and destroying public documents. On the 5th, the police and investigative agencies were directed to search and interview them. After questioning, the prosecutor ordered former investigation team leader Liu Zong-ren and police officers Kong Zhi-zhao, Zeng Jian-feng, and Hsieh Dong-yu to be released on bail ranging from NT$100,000 to NT$500,000.

According to investigations by prosecutors, police, and investigative agencies, Liu Zong-ren, the former investigation team leader of the Neihu Police Precinct of the Taipei City Police Department, was reported to have allegedly leaked the contents of an ongoing case to a female friend. In addition, police officers Zeng Jian-feng of the Donghu Police Station, Hsieh Dong-yu of the Neihu Police Station, and Kong Zhi-zhao of the Neihu Police Precinct's internal affairs unit were suspected of "canceling" traffic violation tickets for friends twice, removing and destroying traffic violation tickets issued by police officers to evade administrative fines. Prosecutors, police, and investigative agencies are currently clarifying the timing of the two incidents.

On the 5th, the prosecutor of the Taipei District Prosecutors Office directed the Taipei City Investigation Office of the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau, the Inspector General's Office of the National Police Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, the Inspector General's Office of the Taipei City Police Department, and the Neihu Police Precinct, among other units, to execute search warrants issued by the court, searching a total of 8 locations including the residences and offices of the four defendants, Liu Zong-ren and others. The four individuals were also notified to appear for questioning. The entire case is being investigated in the direction of criminal offenses such as leaking secrets and destroying public documents.

Among them, Liu Zong-ren, the captain of the Hualien County Criminal Investigation Brigade and former investigation team leader of the Neihu Police Precinct in Taipei City, is suspected of violating Article 132, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, "Crime of Leaking Secrets Other Than National Defense," which carries a sentence of imprisonment of not more than three years. After questioning last night, the prosecutor ordered Liu to be released on bail of NT$100,000, and related details are still being investigated. In addition, Kong Zhi-zhao, Zeng Jian-feng, and Hsieh Dong-yu were released on bail of NT$500,000, NT$200,000, and NT$100,000 respectively.

It is understood that this case was reported by the National Police Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, the Taipei City Police Department, and the Neihu Police Precinct for self-inspection and self-purification, and was directed by the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation.
